Safety Rules for First Dates

Published: 2026-08-20

Before the Date

Agree to meet in a public place: a café, a park, a shopping mall. A first date should always be neutral with no strings attached.

Tell a friend or someone close where you're going and when you plan to be back. Set up a check-in message — it takes a minute and gives you peace of mind.

During the Date

Don't rush into anything intimate. Listen to yourself: if something feels off, that's reason enough to end the date. Your intuition is usually right.

Don't accept drinks you haven't watched being poured, and don't leave the meeting spot with someone you're seeing for the first time. Trust is built gradually.

After the Date

Talk about how it went over messages. If the person pushes, rushes you, or gets upset at your "no" — that's a red flag. This is exactly where respect for your boundaries gets tested.

Remember: a good partner will never hold your caution against you.
